More Pregnant Women Using Cannabis

Jacqueline Howard, writing in CNN, summarizes a Kaiser Permanente Northern California study. More pregnant women seem to be using pot — sometimes to ease the nausea of morning sickness or heightened anxiety — and a new study suggests that this slight rise in marijuana use is most pronounced among those younger in age.

Summary Findings

  • The prevalence of marijuana use among a sample of moms-to-be in California climbed to 7.1% from 4.2% between 2009 through 2016,
  • Among pregnant teens younger than 18, marijuana use climbed to 21.8% from 12.5%
  • Among women 18 to 24, marijuana use climbed to 19.0% from 9.8%

Clear Health specializes in designing programs for women. Historically, medical, addiction and nutritional plans considered men and women to be similar. Today, experts recognize this is ineffective and dangerous. Unfortunately, too many programs for women still fail to provide a comprehensive Clear Health package.
